The Influence of Kinetic Typography on the Amount of Memorized Information

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá kinetickou typografií a jejím vlivem na množství zapamatovaných informací ve srovnání s tradiční typografií. Cílem práce je objasnit, zda použití kinetické typografie, jako nástroje pro upoutání pozornosti na sdělovanou informaci, pozitivně ovlivňuje množství zapamatovaných informací ve srovnání s tradiční typografií.Teoretická část se zabývá analýzou a popisem obecných principů kinetické typografie, její historií, trendy a obecnými charakteristikami. Jsou zkoumány její odlišnosti od klasické typografie i to, co s ní má společné. Dále jsou rozebrány některé stěžejní psychologické principy, kterých kinetická typografie využívá ve spojení s pamětí a tím, jak zpracováváme přijímané informaceZískané poznatky jsou dále aplikovány v praktické části této práce při tvorbě vlastního videa s využitím kinetické typografie a grafického plakátu s typografií statickou. Tyto podklady byly následně využity pro průzkumnou část. Průzkum proběhl formou empirického šetření, při němž byl použit kvantitativní i kvalitativní průzkum. Zdrojem pro získání informací v průzkumné části z kvantitativního hlediska byl online dotazník a z kvalitativního hlediska hloubkové rozhovory.Shrnutím výsledků všech šetření bylo jednoznačně prokázáno, že použití kinetické typografie pozitivně ovlivňuje množství zapamatovaných informací ve srovnání s tradiční typografií. Kinetická typografie tak slouží jako nástroj nejen pro upoutání pozornosti na sdělovanou informaci, ale i pro snažíš čtení a pro lepší orientaci v informacích, což potvrzuje stanovenou hypotézu.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on kinetic typography and its influence on the amount of memorized information compared to traditional typography. The aim of this work is to clarify whether the use of kinetic typography as a tool for attracting attention to the communicated information positively affects the amount of memorized information compared to traditional typography.The theoretical provides analysis and description of general principles of kinetic typography, its history, trends and general characteristics. There are explored its differences from classical typography and what kinetic typography has in common with it. Furthermore, there are discussed.some key psychological principles that kinetic typography uses in conjunction with memory and how we process received information.The acquired knowledge is further applied in the practical part of this work in creating their own video using kinetic typography and graphic poster with typography static. These documents were subsequently used for the reconnaissance part. The survey was conducted in the form of an empirical survey using both quantitative and qualitative research. The source of information in the exploratory section from a quantitative point of view was an online questionnaire and in-depth interviews from qualitative point of view.By summarizing the results of all investigations, it was clearly demonstrated that the use of kinetic typography positively affects the amount of memorized information compared to traditional typography. Thus, kinetic typography serves as a tool not only for attracting attention to the information being conveyed, but also for easier reading and for better orientation in information, which confirms the established hypothesis.
