Croatia as a EU Candidate State - EU Accession Prospects

Abstract:

Studium procesů a jevů, které se odehrávaly v průběhu přístupových rozhovorů 28. členského státu EU – Chorvatska – je poučné a inspirativní i pro občana státu, který má za sebou již osm let členství. Podmínky a okolnosti přístupových rozhovorů, stejně jako související skutečnosti a historický i geopolitický rámec celého procesu jsou obsahem práce. Jejím cílem bylo ověřit hypotézu, že v průběhu několika etap rozšiřování EU se původní ideje zakladatelů v povědomí milionů „nových občanů“ takříkajíc zřeďují. Dalším cílem pak bylo ukázat vliv domácích aktérů procesu, speciálně médií, a poukázat i na efekt „samonaplňujících se prognóz“ i na roli komunikace vedení státu s obyvatelstvem v průběhu procesu přistupování.

Abstract:

Study of processes and phenomena that took place during the 28th accession talks EU Member State – Croatia – is instructive and inspiring for a citizen of a State which has already had eight years of membership. Terms and conditions of accession talks, as well as related facts and historical and geopolitical framework of the process are contained in the work. Its aim was to test the hypothesis that during several stages of enlargement, the original ideas of the founders in the minds of millions of "new citizens" so to speak, are diluted. Another aim was to show the domestic actors influence the process, especially the media, and also point to effect "the self-fulfilling forecasts" and the role of communication with the management of the state population during the accession process.
