Pacient with halitosis in dental hygiene

Abstract:

The Bachelor thesis describes occurance and prevalence of halitosis in patients of dental hygiene. This multifactorial disease is divided to several groups, according to the cause and intesity of severity. Today is halitosis occured in more and more percent of world's population, who can't help with it and always looking for professional health care in dental surgery. For this reason, I think dental hygienist should be able to inform patient about the problem, properly diagnose and start the appropriate therapy. The theoretical part is summarizing short review and description of informations about this problem. The practical part, which is using the questionnaire method, identifies and evaluates the perception of oral health in men and woman, their awareness of the term halitosis, the frequency of visits in dental hygiene office, eating and dental habits and influence of bad breath on their social life. We compare the results and hypotesis of our own research with scientific researches published in literature. I would like to address this thesis mainly to the students of dental hygiene and recent graduates and show them, that disease of bad breath (halitosis) we can't underestimate and it always needs our attention.

Abstract:

Bakalárska práca sa zaoberá problematikou vzniku a výskytu halitózy u pacientov dentálnej hygieny. Toto multifaktorálne ochorenie sa podľa príčiny vzniku delí na viacero druhov s rôznou intenzitou závažnosti. V súčasnosti sa halitóza týka stále viac percent svetovej populácie, ktorá si s ňou často nevie dať rady sama a vyhľadáva profesionálnu pomoc v stomatologickej ordinácii. Z tohto dôvodu som názoru, že dentálna hygienička by mala byť schopná ochorenie správne diagnostikovať, vyšetriť, informovať pacienta o problematike a zahájiť vhodnú terapiu. Cieľom teoretickej časti je stručný súhrn a popis súčasných poznatkov k danej problematike. V praktickej časti budeme pomocou dotazníkovej metódy zisťovať a vyhodnocovať vnímanie úrovne zdravia dutiny ústnej u mužov a žien, ich informovanosť o pojme halitóza, frekvenciu návštev v ordinácii dentálnej hygieničky, vplyv zápachu na ich spoločenský život a stravovacie a dentálne návyky ústnej hygieny. Výsledky vlastného prieskumu a stanovené hypotézy na záver porovnáme s výsledkami publikovanými v odbornej literatúre. Pomocou tejto práce by som chcela obohatiť najmä študentov a čerstvých absolventov dentálnej hygieny a dokázať im, že toto ochorenie netreba podceňovať a vždy mu treba venovať náležitú pozornosť.
