Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá zobrazením ženskosti a ženské identity ve vybraných anglofonních románech 21. století. Hlavním cílem je kriticky zhodnotit, jak tato literární díla odrážejí a interpretují komplexitu ženské identity v současném společensko-kulturním kontextu. Práce se zaměřuje na identifikaci metod, kterými autoři přistupují k otázkám genderu, emancipace a společenských rolí žen. Mezi analyzovaná díla patří Americanah od Chimamandy Ngozi Adichie, A Woman Is No Man od Etaf Rum, Red at the Bone od Jacqueline Woodson a The Power od Naomi Alderman, kde každé nabízí unikátní pohled na mnohostrannou povahu ženskosti a výzvy, kterým ženy v současnosti čelí.

Abstract:

This master’s thesis explores the depiction of femininity and female identity in selected anglophone novels of the 21st century, with a primary focus on critically evaluating how these literary works reflect and interpret the complexity of female identity within the current socio-cultural context. The study identifies methods by which authors address issues of gender, emancipation, and societal roles of women. The novels examined include Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, A Woman Is No Man by Etaf Rum, Red at the Bone by Jacqueline Woodson, and The Power by Naomi Alderman, each offering a unique lens on the multifaceted nature of femininity and the challenges faced by women today.
