Monitoring of network devices and its teaching in business environment

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá návrhem monitoringu sítových zarízení a jeho výkou. Na firemní server byl nainstalován server Zabbix a nastaven pro sledování veškerých sítových zarízení v komercní firme. Techto zarízení existuje více než sto a potrebují být neustále sledována z duvodu predcházení výpadkum hardwaru i služeb. Dále byl proveden audit zarízení a objektu, které má smysl sledovat, byly nastaveny spouštece událostí spolu se zasláním upozornení kompetentním pracovníkum. Cílem diplomové práce je seznámení techniku, správcu sítí a managementu ICT s možnostmi monitorování sítových zarízení, s analýzou logu a s oznamováním zvláštních stavu krátkými textovými zprávami ci mailem. Pracovníci byli také seznámeni s problematikou formou kurzu. Jednotlivé kapitoly obsahují teorii o protokolu SNMP, Netflow a Syslog, dále se venují serveru Zabbix a popisu jednotlivých položek. Na firemním serveru byl vytvoren výukový materiál, který se zabývá popisem jednotlivých možností dohledu takové pocítacové síte se zamerením na protokol SNMP. Výukový kurz je možno použít v prostredí, kde je nutno predcházet výpadkum a monitorovat sítové prvky.

Abstract:

The thesis is going over the suggestion of monitoring of network devices and its teaching. The server Zabbix has been installed on the corporate server. Zabbix is set for watching all network devices in a commercial firm. It exists more than one hundred of these devices and they all need to be constantly monitored so as to prevent hardware and service failures. Then, the audit of devices and objects that worth watching was carried out, and trigger events with sending alerts to competent personnel were set. The aim of the thesis is to familiarize technical experts, network managers and ICT management with possibilities of network monitoring devices, with log analysis and with notice of special states by short text messages or mail. Workers were also acquainted with these problems by the form of a course. The chapters contain the SNMP protocol, Netflow, and Syslog theory, then they pursue the Zabbix server and describe individual items. A training material was developed on the corporate server. This material deals with the description of surveillance possibilities of such a computer network with a focus on the SNMP protocol. The tutorial can be used in any environment where it´s necessary to prevent failures and to monitor network elements.
