Characteristics of the heavy minerals of moldavite-bearing sediments in the vicinity of Křemže

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá sedimentologickým a mineralogickým popisem dvou hlavních typů vltavínonosných sedimentů v okolí obce Vrábče. Jedná se o vrábečské vrstvy a korosecké štěrkopísky. Oba typy sedimentů jsou stratigraficky, petrograficky i mineralogicky velmi rozdílné. Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce bylo podrobné studium těžkých minerálů z těchto vrstev. Vrábečské vrstvy byly na těžké minerály chudší, ale mineralogicky mnohem pestřejší. Obsahovaly převážně minerály: zirkon, monazit a xenotim, turmalín, kyanit, granát a spinel. Naopak těžké minerály z koroseckých štěrkopísků byly dominantně zastoupené opakní fází, a to zejména ilmenitem. Na základě chemického složení granátu, turmalínu a spinelu byly identifikovány jako hlavní zdrojové horniny: eklogity, amfibolity a ultrabazické horniny. Mezi další zdrojové horniny patří migmatity až migmatitizované pararuly. Menší množství těžkých minerálů pochází ze zvětralin mramorů, vápenatosilikátových hornin, ortorul a pegmatitů.

Abstract:

The thesis are focused on the sedimentological and mineralogical description of two main types of fluvial sediments near Vrábče. These are the Vrábče beds and the Koroseky sands and gravels. Both types of sediments are stratigraphically, petrographically, and mineralogically very different. The main aim of this thesis was to study the heavy minerals from these strata in detail. The Vrabec beds were poorer in heavy minerals but mineralogically much more varied. They contained mainly the minerals zircon, monazite and xenotime, tourmaline, kyanite, garnet, and spinel. In contrast, the heavy minerals of the Korosec gravel sands were dominated by the opaque phase, particularly ilmenite. Based on the chemical composition of garnet, tourmaline, and spinel, the main source rocks were identified as eclogites, amphibolites, and ultrabasic rocks. Other source rocks include migmatite and paragneiss. Smaller amounts of heavy minerals are derived from weathered marbles, calcium-silicate rocks, orthogneiss, and pegmatites.
