The empowerment of people with the severe visual impairment

Abstract:

V rámci bakalářské práce byly prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů získány cenné informace o životě osob s těžkým zrakovým postižením a faktorech, které ovlivňují jejich nezávislost v kontextu antiopresivních teorií. Cílem výzkumu bylo identifikovat různé faktory a zjistit, jakým způsobem ovlivňují obnovu osobní autonomie po ztrátě zrakových funkcí. První kapitola se věnuje metodologii výzkumu. Druhá kapitola se zabývá základními pojmy týkající se sociální práce s touto skupinou lidí. Třetí kapitola popisuje různé faktory, které mají vliv na život osob se zrakovým postižením, ať už v negativním nebo pozitivním smyslu. Čtvrtá kapitola se pak věnuje antiopresivním přístupům v sociální práci a zahrnuje i osobní zkušenosti účastníků výzkumu s diskriminací a útlakem. Neopomíjí ani reflektovat koncept zplnomocnění v reálném životě těchto osob. Poslední pátá kapitola nabízí závěrečné shrnutí výzkumných zjištění. Celkově se jedná práci, která může poskytnout vhled do života osob s těžkým zrakovým postižením a na faktory, které mají potenciál ovlivnit jejich nezávislost a autonomii.

Abstract:

The thesis provided valuable information about the lives of people with severe visual impairment and the factors that influence their independence in the context of anti-oppressive theories through semi-structured interviews. The aim of the research was to identify different factors and to investigate how they affect the recovery of personal autonomy after visual loss. The first chapter discusses the research methodology. The second chapter deals with basic concepts related to social work with this group of people. The third chapter describes various factors that affect the lives of people with visual impairment, either in a negative or positive sense. The fourth chapter then looks at anti-oppressive approaches in social work and includes the personal experiences of the research participants with discrimination and oppression. It also does not fail to reflect on the concept of empowerment in the real lives of these individuals. The final fifth chapter offers a concluding summary of the research findings. Overall, this is a work that can provide insight into the lives of people with severe visual impairment and the factors that have the potential to affect their independence and autonomy.
