Shining Path in Peruvian Literature

Abstract:

Shining Path is a terrorist organisation in Peru that had been active mainly in the 1980s. A lot of people died during its fight for Maoist ideology which influenced many Peruvian writers such as Mario Vargas Llosa. The work tries to analyse the presence of the group in the following novels: Death in the Andes, Red April and Rosa Cuchillo. The aim of the thesis is to compare the portrayal of Shining Path, its differences and similarities. The first part focuses on describing Shining Path as a whole and the practical part intends to analyse the novels mentioned above.

Abstract:

Světlá stezka je peruánská teroristická organizace, která byla převážně aktivní v 80. letech 20. století. Během jejího boje za maoistickou ideologii, ztratilo život mnoho lidí což ovlivnilo řadu peruánských spisovatelů jako je například Mario Vargas Llosa. Práce se snaží analyzovat přítomnost této skupiny ve třech literárních dílech: Lituma en los Andes, Abril Rojo a Rosa Cuchillo. Mezi hlavní cíle této práce patří snaha porovnat vyobrazení Světlé stezky, jejich rozdíly a podobnosti. První část se zabývá historií a vybranými prvky charakterizující tuto skupinu. Praktická část se již zmíněné knihy snaží analyzovat.
