Sociology of health and disease and consequences of asthma development in children in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje významu sociologie zdraví a nemoci a sledování zejména sociodemografických faktorů a ekonomických důsledků rozvoje astmatu pro rodiny nemocných v České republice. Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je identifikovat sociodemografické faktory, které mohou ovlivňovat vznik a rozvoj astmatu u dětí, a jejich ekonomické důsledky pro dotčené rodiny. Data byla získána prostřednictvím dotazníkového šetření, které bylo realizováno v Dětské léčebně se speleoterapií v Ostrově u Macochy (201 dotazníků). Získaná data jsou interpretována popisnou statistikou a testována korelační analýzou, Kruskal–Wallisovým testem, Chí–kvadrát testem a T–testem.Statistickým testováním se potvrdilo, že nejvyšší dosažené vzdělání ovlivňuje kuřáctví a úplnost rodin. Lidé bez základního, se základním či učňovským vzděláním jsou významně častěji kuřáci než lidé s jiným vzděláním. Lidé s vysokoškolským vzděláním pochází významně méně častěji z neúplných rodin než lidé s jiným vzděláním. Nepotvrdil se vliv věku matky při porodu na porodní váhu dítěte, vliv věku matky při porodu na typ porodu a vliv vzdělání matky na porodní váhu dítěte. Náklady na léčbu onemocnění nejsou zanedbatelné a některým rodinám významně narušují rodinný rozpočet. Klíčovým aspektem léčby astmatu je důsledné dodržování doporučení a opatření stanovených lékařem a individuální snaha a přístup rodiny. Je nutné zvýšit povědomí veřejnosti o astmatu, o vážnosti tohoto onemocnění, jak ho poznat a co všechno může přispět k jeho vzniku a rozvoji.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the importance of the sociology of health and disease and the monitoring of socio-demographic factors and economic consequences of the development of asthma for the families of diseased in the Czech Republic. The main aim of the diploma thesis is to identify socio-demographic factors that may affect the origin and development of asthma in children, and their economic consequences for the families of patients. Data were obtained through a questionnaire survey, which was conducted in the Children's Hospital with Speleotherapy in Ostrov u Macochy (201 questionnaires). The obtained data are interpreted by descriptive statistics and tested by correlation analysis, Kruskal–Wallis test, Chi–square test and T–test.Statistical testing confirmed that the highest educational level affects smoking and family completeness. People without elementary, with elementary or apprenticeship education are significantly more often smokers than people with other education. People with a university degree come significantly less often from single-parent families than people with other education. The effect of the mother´s age at the time of childbirth on the birth weight of the child, the mother´s age at the time of childbirth on the type of birth and the effect of the highest achieved level of education of the mother on the birth weight of the child were not confirmed. The costs of treating the disease are not negligible and treatment significantly impairs the family budget of some families.A key aspect of asthma treatment is strict adherence to the recommendations and measures set by the doctor and the individual approach of the family. It is necessary to raise public awareness about asthma, the severity of the disease, how to recognize it and what can contribute to its origin and development.
