‘The Divine in Us’:Aristotle and Rand on the Motion

Anotace:

The thesis provides a comparative analysis of Aristotle’s and Ayn Rand’s metaphysical ideas in order to analyze the ways in which Rand secularizes the Aristotelian approach to motion and time. The first part of the thesis highlights the grave impact Aristotle’s notion of the ‘unmoved mover’ had on Ayn Rand and the philosophy of Objectivism. The second half of the thesis reveals the implications Rand’s novel approach to the Aristotelian concept has for our understanding of time.
