Roman province of Judaea

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na popis historie Římské provincie Judea. Nejprve se věnuje historickému kontextu dané oblasti, uvedena je ptolemaiovská a seleukovská historie oblasti. Dále práce popisuje historii regionu po římské integraci. Práce dále zmiňuje různá římská vazalská království v této oblasti a představuje jejich vládce. Dále se práce věnuje římské vládě prokurátorů až k židovským povstáním. Druhá část práce se věnuje sociologickému rozboru různých významných náboženských skupin Judeje. Třetí část práce se věnuje pohledu řeckých a římských historiografu na židovské obyvatelstvo a jeho náboženství.

Abstract:

This bachelor' thesis focuses on the description of the history of the Roman province of Judea. First, it deals with the historical context of the given area, the Ptolemaic and Seleucid history of the area is presented. The thesis then describes history of integration of the area by the Roman empire. The work further mentions the various Roman vassal kingdoms in the area and introduces their rulers. Furthermore, the work is devoted to the history of roman reign of procurators in the area up to the Jewish uprisings.The second part of the work aims to provide a sociological analysis of various significant religious groups in Judea. The third part of the work is devoted to the view of Greek and Roman historiographers on the Jewish population and its religion.
