Analysis of the technologies used for wireless internet provision by a local provider

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na oblast poskytování internetové konektivity pomocí bezdrátových spojů a má čtyři cíle. Prvním z nich je seznámit čtenáře jednak s historií a vybranými teoretickými aspekty bezdrátových sítí a jednak legislativním rámcem, který je v České republice nastaven zejména Českým telekomunikačním úřadem. Druhým cílem práce je formou popisu doplněného o praktické poznatky přiblížit jednotlivé technologie, které jsou v současné době využívány v oblasti poskytování internetu, s čímž souvisí také otázka zabezpečení jednotlivých spojů. Třetí cíl práce je seznámit čtenáře s praktickou stránkou distribuce internetové konektivity pomocí bezdrátových sítí. Pro splnění tohoto cíle je v práci podrobně rozebrán projekt revitalizace jednoho z vysílacích bodů společnosti Rete internet s.r.o., včetně jednotlivých uzlů, kterými je k vysílacímu bodu distribuována konektivita, a které jsem se aktivně účastnil. V této části práce je také řešena problematika nastavení klientských přijímacích zařízení a možnosti optimalizace času jejich konfigurace. Posledním cílem práce je porovnat nákladnost výstavby sítě pomocí bezdrátových spojů a optických distribučních cest. Závěr práce pak hodnotí splnění jednotlivých cílů.

Abstract:

The bachelor's thesis is aimed at the sphere of providing internet via wireless connections and has four goals. The first goal is to familiarize the reader on one hand with the history and the theoretical aspects of wireless networks and on the other hand with the legislative boundaries, in the Czech Republic set mainly by the Czech Telecommunication Office. The second goal is to describe the specific technologies used currently in the business of providing internet, both with theoretical and practical information. It also includes the topic of safety of wireless connections. The third goal is to bring the reader closer to the practical aspect of distribution of internet connectivity via wireless networks. To achieve this goal the thesis describes in detail the project of revitalization of a broadcasting point of the company Rete internet s.r.o., including the individual nodes used to distribute connectivity to the broadcasting point and which I took part of. In this part of the thesis the problematic of setting up client receiver devices and the time optimization of this configuration. The last goal of the thesis is to compare the cost effectiveness of building a network via wireless connections and optical distribution routes. The conclusion evaluates the completion of the goals.
