Comparison of the effectiveness of combined therapy and radial shockwave therapy for the treatment of trigger points

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na porovnání efektivity radiální rázové vlny a kombinované terapie na ošetření trigger pointu. V teoretické části práce je popsána problematika a druhy reflexních změn, základní principy a mechanismy terapie radiální rázovou vlnou a kombinovanou terapií. V praktické části se porovnala efektivita fyzikálních metod při ošetření extensorové skupiny svalů předloktí a sledoval se vliv tohoto ošetření na funkci svalů předloktí v podobě síly stisku. Síla stisku byla pomocí dynamometru změřena před a po aplikaci těchto metod. Obě metody byly aplikovány na každém z 30 probandů. Jedna metoda byla provedena na extensorech jednoho z předloktí probanda a druhá metoda na druhém předloktí. Vždy došlo nejdříve k terapii na dominantní končetině a bylo provedeno několik kontrolních měření před i po aplikaci dané terapie. Výzkum byl podpořen vyplněním dotazníků před a po provedení terapie. Bylo stanoveno 5 hypotéz, z nichž 2 byly potvrzeny. Z výsledků vyplývá, že radiální rázová vlna byla efektivnější v terapii trigger pointů v porovnání s kombinovanou terapií, zejména pokud byla aplikována na muže.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on comparing the effectiveness of radial shock wave therapy and combined therapy in treating trigger points. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the issues and types of reflex changes, basic principles and mechanisms of radial shock wave therapy and combined therapy. In the practical part, the effectiveness of physical methods in treating the extensor muscle group of the forearm was compared, and the impact of this treatment on the function of the forearm muscles in terms of grip strength was observed. Grip strength was measured using a dynamometer before and after the application of these methods. Both methods were applied to each of the 30 subjects, with one method performed on the extensors of one forearm and the other method on the other forearm. Therapy was always administered to the dominant limb, and several control measurements were conducted before and after the application of the respective therapy. The research was supported by the completion of questionnaires before and after the therapy. 5 hypotheses were established, of which 2 were confirmed. The results indicate that radial shock wave therapy was more effective in treating trigger points compared to combined therapy, especially when applied to men.
