Determinants and the impact of the Ukrainian crisis on the economy of Ukraine in the years 2013-2018

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá vymezením a zhodnocením hlavních determinant původu a dopadů ukrajinské krize, která vypukla po masových protestech v Kyjevě na konci roku 2013, na ekonomický vývoj země v letech 2013–18. Při zkoumání determinantů krize se použila srovnávací analýza ekonomického přechodu Ukrajiny z plánovaného k tržní ekonomice k s ostatními tranzitivními ekonomikami.V rámci ekonomického vlivu krize se práce zabývá vlivem na a) makroekonomický aspekt - dopad krize na nejdůležitější makroekonomické ukazatele, zejména na vývoj hrubého domácího produktu, inflaci, směnný kurz ukrajinské hřivny, objem přímých zahraničních investic plynoucích do země, dopadu na platební bilanci a dalších příslušných ukazatelů; a b) sociání aspekt - vývoj míry migrace (meziměstské i zahraniční) a celkového počtu obyvatel v zemi, dopady na životní úroveň obyvatelstva (úroveň příjmů a rozdělení bohatství), dopady na trh práce a další relevantní ukazatele (např. index vnímání korupce) , HDI atd.).

Abstract:

The thesis looks into definition and evaluation of the main determinants of the origin and effects of the Ukrainian crisis, which erupted after the mass protests in Kiev at the end of 2013, on the economic development of the country in 2013-18. While examining the determinants of the crises a comparison analysis of economic transition from planned to market economy is used to compare the results of Ukraine with other economies in transition.Within the economic influence of the crisis the thesis examines influence on a) macroeconomic aspect - the impact of the crisis on the most important macroeconomic indicators, especially on the development of gross domestic product, inflation, the exchange rate of the Ukrainian hryvnia, the volume of foreign direct investment flowing into the country, the impact on balance of payments and other relevant indicators; and b) development of migration rates (intercountry and abroad) and total population in the country, impacts on the living standards of the population (income level and distribution of wealth), impact on the labour market and other relevant indicators (e.g. corruption perception index, HDI, etc.).
