My Ph.D thesis is focused particularly on the synthesis of new carbocyclic C-nucleosides. This topic is divided into two individual parts. First part deals with the synthesis of direct analogs of pseudoisocytidine. Pseudoisocytidine was shown to be active against cytarabine-resistant leukemias, but its clinical progression had to be halted due to hepatotoxicity of uknown origin.
