Schengen Area from the Perspective of Trust and Solidarity among Member States

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá Schengenským prostorem a zaměřuje se především na pojem solidarity a důvěry mezi členskými státy. Cílem textu je práce s hypotézou, že fungování Schengenského systému nestojí na hodnotách jako je důvěra a solidarita mezi členskými státy a události označované jako krize systému jsou ukázkou převládajícího vlivu národních zájmů. Práce se přitom soustředí především na krizové okamžiky existence Schengenského systému, jako je otázka přistoupení Bulharska a Rumunska či rozepře při migrační vlně související s událostmi arabského jara. Základní literaturu k této práci tvoří v první řadě odborné články, předpokládá se nutnost do značné míry pracovat s novinovými zdroji.

Abstract:

This work deals with the Schengen Area and focuses on the concept of solidarity and trust among Member States. The text aims to work with the hypothesis that the functioning of the Schengen system is not based on values such as trust and solidarity among the Member States and the events known as crises are an example of the prevailing influence of national interests. This work focuses on the critical moments of existence of the Schengen systém, such a the issue of accession of Bulgaria and Romania or the migration wave of controversy associated with the events of the Arab spring. Basic literature consists primarily of research papers, the work with newspaper source is also expected.
