Training of teachers of secondary schools, focusing on hospitality, gastronomy and tourism

Abstract:

Topic of the thesis, which is the education of secondary school teachers with a focus on hospitality, gastronomy and tourism industry, we have chosen because of its timeliness and multilateral discussions. The aim of the thesis was to identify the factors motivating the target group to participate in continuing education in accordance with the concept of the continuous education. Within the objective of the thesis we have decided to analyze the participation of the target group, which consisted of teachers of the selected secondary schools, on the continuing education programs from the perspective of selected criteria in relation to the expectations of the target group and the real contribution of education. We paid our attention to a motivating factor of the selected secondary schools teachers’ participation for further education as well. The thesis is divided into three parts. The first part of the thesis was dedicated to the theoretical approach of the issue, and primarily the secondary data were used. In the second part of the thesis there were presented the results of the research. The research was implemented within the target group for the seven selected schools in the Prešov Self-governing Region. Based on the results of the research there were in the third part of the thesis suggestions and recommendations presented. Based on the results of the research , we came into conclusion that there are some gaps and weaknesses in the legislative framework of the issue of continuing education, which regarding the mentality of the Slovak population, greatly influenced before democratic regimes, represent a serious problem and wrong understanding of the concept of continuing education . The teacher were the most motivated to participate in continuing education programs by obtaining credits and subsequent financial rewards. It follows, that the original idea of continuing education has just not been understood. The concept of the idea of supporting their personal development, self-realization, career development has not succeeded in practice. The a im of continuing education for the majority of teachers, schools and providers of continuing education appeared to be financial profit.

Abstract:

Tému diplomovej práce, ktorou je vzdelávanie učiteľov stredných škôl so zameraním na hotelierstvo, gastronómiu a turizmus, sme si vybrali z dôvodu jej aktuálnosti a mnohostranných diskusií. Cieľom diplomovej práce bola identifikácia motivačných faktorov cieľovej skupiny k účasti na kontinuálnom vzdelávaní v súlade s koncepciou zákona o kontinuálnom vzdelávaní. V rámci cieľa práce sme sa rozhodli analyzovať účasť cieľovej skupiny, ktorú tvorili učitelia vybraných stredných škôl, na programoch kontinuálneho vzdelávania z pohľadu zvolených kritérií vo väzbe na očakávania cieľovej skupiny a reálny prínos vzdelávania. Pozornosť sme venovali aj motivačným faktorom participácie učiteľov vybraných škôl, na ďalšom vzdelávaní. Diplomová práca je rozdelená do troch častí. V prvej časti diplomovej práce sme sa venovali teoretickému priblíženiu problematiky, pričom sme primárne využívali sekundárne údaje. V druhej časti diplomovej práce sme prezentovali výsledky realizovaného výskumu. Výskum sme realizovali v rámci cieľovej skupiny, na siedmich vybraných školách v Prešovskom samosprávnom kraji. Na základe výsledkov realizovaného výskumu, sme v tretej časti diplomovej práce prezentovali návrhy a odporúčania. Na základe výsledkov realizovaného výskumu, sme dospeli k záveru, že v legislatívnom rámci problematiky kontinuálneho vzdelávania sú isté medzery a nedostatky, ktoré v súvislosti s mentalitou slovenského obyvateľstva, značne ovplyvnenou pred demokratickým režimom, predstavujú závažný problém a mylné pochopenie konceptu kontinuálneho vzdelávania. Získanie kreditov a následné finančné prilepšenie, najviac motivovalo učiteľov zúčastniť sa na programoch kontinuálneho vzdelávania. Z toho vyplýva, že pôvodná myšlienka kontinuálneho vzdelávania nebola pochopená. Koncept idey podpory osobného rozvoja, sebarealizácie, profesijného rastu sa v praxi neujal. Cieľom kontinuálneho vzdelávania pre väčšinu učiteľov, škôl a poskytovateľov kontinuálneho vzdelávania sa javil byť hlavne finančný profit.
