Water Quality of Miroslav Pond under the Influence of the Wastewater Treatment Plant

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zaměřila na sledování fyzikálně-chemických parametrů v odtékající vodě v řece Miroslávce a – rovněž porovnání kvality vypouštěné vody z čistírny odpadních vod Miroslav s vodou z níže položeného rybníka Rény. Celý výzkum probíhal od prosince roku 2022 do prosince roku 2023. Na pěti vybraných lokalitách byly monitorovány fyzikálně-chemické parametry vody, celkový počet bakterií, běžné pesticidy a farmaceutika. V sedimentech rybníka byl sledován obsah hlavních živin a rtuť, která byla stanovena i ve svalovině ryb. Z výsledků diplomové práce bylo zjištěno, že k ukazatelům výrazně nesplňující legislativní limity patří: celkový dusík (Nc), celkový fosfor (Pc), chemická spotřeba kyslíku dichromanem (CHSKCr), spotřeba kyslíku za pět dní (BSK5), amoniakální dusík (N-NH4), rozpuštěný kyslík (O2), dusitanový dusík (N-NO2). vodivost, celkového železo (Fec), chlorofyl-a a nerozpuštěné látky (NL). Tyto vzorky vody byly řazeny do V. kategorie kvality vody (velmi silně znečištěná voda). U sledovaných mikropolutantů bylo možné pozorovat pokles koncentrací jednak při čištění odpadních vod v čistírně i výrazné dočištění v rybníce. Nejvyšší pokles koncentrací byl zaznamenám u (atrazin, phosalon, terbuthylazin, paracetamol, kofein, sulfamethaxazol). Naopak u některých polutantů nedošlo ani na čistírně ani v rybníce k relevantnímu poklesu sledovaných koncentrací (Imidacloprid a spiroxamin). Rtuť ve vzorcích rybí svaloviny i sedimentech z rybníka, byly v souladu s legislativními limity. Po vyhodnocení všech výsledků chemických analýz je možné konstatovat, že Miroslavský rybník Rény má pozitivní vliv na dočištění a zlepšení jakosti vody v řece Miroslávce, a to i za vyšších vodních stavů, kdy část odpadních vod není na čistírně čištěna.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the monitoring of physico-chemical parameters in the outflowing water of the Miroslávka River and the comparison water-quality discharged from the Miroslav wastewater treatment plant with the water from the Rény pond below. The entire research was carried out in the period from December 2022 to December 2023. The following parameters were monitored on five determined monitoring sites: physico-chemical parameters of water and bacterial count, contaminats such as pesticides and pharmaceutics. In sediments from the pond was also monitored nutrients and mercury, which has also been detected in the muscle meat of fish caught from the pond. From the results of the thesis, it was found that the worst indicators significantly not meeting the legislative limits of the research were: total nitrogen (Nc), total phosphorus (Pc), chemical oxygen demand by dichromate (CHSKCr), oxygen demand in five days (BSK5), ammonia nitrogen (N-NH4), dissolved oxygen (O2), nitrite nitrogen (N-NO2). Conductivity, total iron (Fec), chlorophyll-a and total dissolved solids (NL). These water samples were classified as category V. water quality (very heavily polluted water). For the micropollutants investigated, it was possible to observe a decrease in concentrations of pharmaceutical and pesticide substances both during the treatment of wastewater in the treatment plant and significant retreatment in the pond. The highest decrease in concentrations was observed in (atrazine, phosalone, terbuthylazine, paracetamole, caffeine, sulfamethaxazole). On the other hand, for some pollutants there was no significant decrease in the monitored concentrations at either the treatment plant ar the pond (Imidacloprid and spiroxamine). Although mercury was detected in the muscle of fish samples and pond sediment, the concentration were in compliance with the decrees dealing with this issue and the legislative limits. Having evaluated all the results of the chemical analyses, it is safe to conclude that the Miroslav Rény pond has a positive effect on the purification and improvement of the water quality of the Miroslávka River, when part of the wastewater is not treated at the treatment plant.
