Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá filozofickým povídkou Candide neboli Optimismus, který Voltaire napsal v roce 1759 a jeho filmovou adaptací, kterou natočil Norbert Carbonnaux v roce 1960, který přemístí postavu Candida do období druhé světové války. Analyzováním různých pasáží z románu a filmu se pokusíme prokázat adekvátnost této adaptace a také poukázat na specifika románu na jedné straně a filmové adaptace na druhé. Na začátku se budeme zabývat analýzou narativních kategorií literárního a kinematografického žánru. Dále vypracujeme analýzu příběhu, která se věnuje tématům, na které Voltaire naráží. Candide je také satira, ve které se Votaire mimo jiné vysmívá Leibnizově teorii. Zajímá nás také, do jaké míry se režiséru Norbertu Carbonnauxovi podařilo zachovat smysl a vtipnost příběhu. V poslední části této práce se zamyslíme nad otázkou, zda jsou filozofické myšlenky tohoto románu stále aktuální v našem století a představíme si Candida po útocích na Charlie Hebdo v Paříži v roce 2015. Abstract:

Our bachelor's thesis deals with a philosophical novel Candide or Optimism, written by Voltaire in 1759 and its 1960's film adaptation directed by Norbert Carbonnaux which places Candide in the period of the Second World War. By analysing different passages from the novel and the film, we demonstrate the relevance of this adaption, as well as the specificities of the novel and the film adaptation. At the beginning, we make an analysis of the narrative categories of the literary and cinematographic genre. Then we analyse the novel, where we deal with the themes that Voltaire alludes to. Candide is as well a satire where Voltaire ridicules, among others, Leibniz´s theory. We are also interested in how the director Norbert Carbonnaux managed to keep the sense and the humour of the novel. In the last part of this thesis, we consider the question if the philosophical ideas of this novel are still current in our century and we imagine Candide after the attacks on Charlie Hebdo in Paris in 2015.
