The Education in Democratic Schools Seen from the Students´ Perspective

Abstract:

V bakalářské práci se zabýváme tématem vzdělávání ve svobodných demokratických školách pohledem jejich žáků. V práci nacházíme dvě hlavní části, část teoretickou a část praktickou. V teoretické části se věnujeme základním pojmům, jako je alternativní škola, tradiční škola či svobodná škola, a následně se snažíme o přiblížení jednotlivých hodnot svobodných demokratických škol. Věnujeme se také historii modelových škol Summerhill a Sudbury Valley School. V části praktické jsme uskutečňovali kvalitativní výzkum, který byl zaměřen na vzdělávání ve svobodných demokratických školách pohledem žáků, kteří tento typ škol navštěvují. Pro kvalitativní výzkum jsme volili metodu zakotvené teorie.

Abstract:

This research paper explores the topic of democratic education through the perspective of students. The paper is structured into two main parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part explains basic concepts, such as alternative school, traditional school, and democratic school. Later it tries to characterize the distinctive values of democratic education, and takes a look at the history of two model schools - Summerhill School and Sudbury Valley School. The practical part contains qualitative research aimed at the style of teaching in democratic education, seen from the point of view of students in such institutions. The grounded theory method was used for the qualitative research.
