Ethics in the accounting profession

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá etikou v účetní profesi v ČR a ve světě. Cílem práce je zjištění základních etických otázek v účetní profesi. Dílčí cíle budou zahrnovat vyme-zení etických pravidel v normách příslušných zemí. Zkoumání účetních skandálů v české i světové historii na přelomu 20. a 21. století a jejich dopady na společnost. K pochopení jednání jednotlivých aktérů ve firmách, účetních, manažerů či majitelů, a také k pochopení jejich motivů porušení etiky. K dosažení cílů bude využita metoda řízeného rozhovoru s firmami, kde budou otázky směřovány na důvody či motivy, které by je hypoteticky mohly vést k porušení etiky v účetní profesi. Výstupem bude zjištění aktuálních důvodů, v čem etika selhává.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with ethics in the accounting profession in the Czech Republic and in the world. The aim of the work is to find out the basic ethical issues in the accounting profession. Sub-objectives will include the definition of ethical rules in the standards of the respective countries. An examination of accounting scandals in Czech and world history at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries and their impact on society. To understand the actions of individual actors in companies, accountants, managers or owners, and also to understand their motives for violating ethics. To achieve the goals, the method of controlled interview with companies will be used, where questions will be directed to the reasons or motives that could hypothetically lead them to violate ethics in the accounting profession. The output will be to find out the current reasons why ethics fails.
