Pop-up poetry by Sylvia Plath

Abstract:

Cílem praktické části mé bakalářské práce je vytvořit třídílnou sadu pop-up knih s vybranými básněmi americké básnířky a spisovatelky Sylvie Plathové. Každá báseň je zpracována jako samostatná kniha. Knihy mají jednotný koncept a tvoří tak jeden celek. Zároveň ale mohou fungovat i samostatně. Konkrétně se jedná o básně Noční tance, Jsem svislá a Hrana. V teoretické části se stručně zabývám životem a dílem Sylvie Plathové. Dále porovnávám výtvarná zpracování vydaných knih v českém jazyce. Jsou to knihy: Ariel, Noční tance, Pod skleněným zvonem, Deníky Sylvie Plathové a Knížka o postelích a dvě pohádky navrch.

Abstract:

The task of a practical part of my Bachelor thesis is to create three-part set of pop-up books with selected poems by american poetess and authoress Sylvia Plath. Every poem is created as a separated book. Books have an united concept and form one whole. But at the same time they can also be independently. Specifically these are poems Night Dances, I am Vertical and Edge. In the theoretical part of my Bachelor thesis I briefly deal with the life and work of Sylvia Plath. Next, I compare czech editions of this authoress. These are books Ariel, The Night Dances, The Bell Jar, Journals of Sylvia Plath and The Bed Book.
