Caring for fetal and newborn health – awareness and experience of primipara women

Abstract:

Úroveň zdravotní gramotnosti hraje důležitou roli v péči o zdraví jedince. Zdravotní gramotnost těhotných žen je v tomto ohledu specifická, jelikož jí ženy mohou ovlivnit nejen vlastní zdraví, ale i zdraví svého dítěte. Bakalářská práce řeší právě toto téma, a to z pohledu prvorodiček, které nemají předchozí zkušenosti s těhotenstvím, porodem a péčí o novorozence. Je tedy třeba, aby informace o těchto tématech získaly z relevantních zdrojů, porozuměly jim a chovaly se v souladu s nimi za účelem podpory svého zdraví a zdraví svého dítěte již od početí. Teoretická část práce poskytuje základní informace o zdravotní gramotnosti a faktorech, které ovlivňují zdraví plodu a novorozence, včetně faktorů psychologických. Praktická část je zaměřena na informovanost, chování a zkušenosti prvorodiček a je realizovaná formou dotazníkového šetření. Důraz je také kladen na informační zdroje a možnou podporu rozvoje zdravotní gramotnosti dívek v rámci povinného základního vzdělávání ve výchově ke zdraví.

Abstract:

To take care for our own health, we need a proper level of health literacy. For pregnant women, this becomes more specific as women can influence not only their health but also health of their offspring. The bachelor thesis deals with this topic from the perspective of first-time mothers that do not possess experience with pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care. It is necessary that they acquire needed information about these topics from relevant sources, understand them and behave accordingly to support their health as well as the newborn’s health.Theoretical part provides fundamental information knowledge on health literacy and factors influencing the health of fetus and new-born child, including psychological factors. Practical part is carried out as a survey and deals with the issues of awareness, behavior, and experience of primiparas. The thesis also focuses on sources of information and possible use of health education to develop health literacy of girls in primary education.
