The Problem of Folk Psychology in the contemporary Philosophy of Mind

Abstract:

V této práci se budu zabývat různými koncepty lidové psychologie v diskusích současné filosofie mysli. Nejprve uvedu obecné problémové okruhy a některé důležité termíny práce a načrtnu intence, v kterých se budu pohybovat. V další části přistoupím k analýze hlavních teorií, které se v současnosti lidovou psychologií zabývají, a to včetně některých poznatků z neurovědy a jiných kognitivních věd. Zde budou hlavní témata simulační teorie, teorie-teorie či jejich hybridní kombinace, důležitou roli zde bude hrát také fenomén empatie. V poslední části se pokusím popsat a zhodnotit pojetí lidové psychologie jako modelu, které navrhuje australský filosof Peter-Godfrey Smith.

Abstract:

In my thesis I will deal with some conceptions of folk psychology in the contemporary philosophy of mind. Firstly I will introduce general issues and some important terms of my thesis, then I will outline the intentions in which I will work. In the next part I will analyze the main theories currently dealing with folk psychology, including some findings of neuroscience and other cognitive sciences. This part will focus on simulation theory, theory-theory or some of their hybrid combinations, where phenomenon of empathy will play an important role as well. In the last part I will try to describe and evaluate the concept of folk psychology as a model, as proposed by the Australian philosopher Peter Godfrey-Smith.
