Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá porovnáním mikrostruktur tří nožířských vysokouhlíkových ocelí o diametrálně odlišném chemickém složení. Jde o čistě uhlíkovou ocel, nerezovou ocel a práškovou ocel. Čistě uhlíkové oceli jsou stále populární materiál pro čepele nožů díky konzistenci ostří, ale většina nožů je dnes vyrobena z nerezové oceli, pro jejich korozi odolnost. Ve snaze skombinovat dobré vlastnosti obou konvenčních typů ocelí byla vyvinuta prášková ocel, která slibuje výborné mechanické i chemické vlastnosti a jeví se jako revoluční materiál. Cílem práce je porovnání mikrostruktur vzorků zastupující tyto tři skupiny na základně všeobecně známé teorie nožířských ocelí a využití znalosti materiálové vědy, co se týče fázových přeměn a možnému ovlivnění legujícími prvky. Hlavním zaměřením je jemnost a morfologie martenzitu u všech tří ocelí a distribuce a morfologie karbidů chromu u nerezové a práškové oceli. Dále je předmětem detailnější zaměření na modifikace karbidů chromu v ocelích, konkrétně M7C3 a M23C6 a to jejich chemické složení a zda se nacházejí i u práškové oceli nebo zda jde o neznámé intermetalické fáze vzniklé díky povaze výroby prášku. Vzorky byly připraveny pomocí metalografických výbrusů, leptáním vhodnou vybranou kyselinou pro zvýraznění jednotlivých fází a hodnoceny pomocí optické a elektronové mikroskopie. Vzhledem ke špatné dostupnosti ocelí a malé velikosti vzorů nebylo možné provést další mechanické zkoušky např. tažnost nebo vrubovou houževnatost a byla tedy pouze zkontrolována tvrdost

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis objective is the comparison of microstructures of three high-carbon knife steel with diametrically different chemical composition. It is a pure carbon steel, stainless steel and powder steel. Pure carbon steels are still a popular material for knife blades due to the consistency of the edge, but today most knives are made of stainless steel for their corrosion resistance. In order to combine the good characteristics of both conventional types of steels, powder steel has been developed that promises both excellent mechanical and chemical properties and appears to be a revolutionary blade material. The aim of the thesis is to compare microstructures of samples representing these three groups on the base of well-known theory of knife steels and to use the knowledge of material science in terms of phase transformations and possible influence of alloying elements. The main focus is the fineness and morphology of martensite in all three steels and the distribution and morphology of chromium carbides in stainless and powder steel. Next, the subject is to make a more detailed focus on modification of stainless steel chromium carbides, namely M7C3 and M23C6, their chemical composition and whether they are found also in powder steel or are an unknown intermetallic phase due to the nature of powder production. Samples were prepared using metallographic cuts, etching with a suitable etchant to highlight individual phases, and observed by optical and electron microscopy. Due to the poor availability of these steels and the small size of the samples, it was not possible to perform more mechanical tests such as ductility or notched impact strength, and only the hardness was verified.
