Brain perfusion focusing on the detection of epileptic centers

Abstract:

Anotace Bakalářská práce „Perfuze mozku se zaměřením na detekci epileptických center“ se zabývá vyšetřením mozkové perfuze, které se provádí na oddělení nukleární medicíny. Práci jsem rozdělil do dvou částí. Teoretická část práce je věnována anatomii, fyziologii, patologii se zaměřením na epilepsii a nukleární medicíně. V anatomické části popisuji mozkové struktury a jejich cévní zásobení. Část o nukleární medicíně jsem zaměřil na radionuklidy, radiofarmaka, druhy záření, výrobu radiofarmak, přístroj SPECT a vyšetření mozkové perfuze na detekci centra epilepsie. V praktické části jsem se zaměřil na sběr dat z fakultní nemocnice, která se týkají vyšetření mozkové perfuze na oddělení nukleární medicíny. Výzkum se týkal především četnosti vyšetření, zjištění nejvíce zastoupené věkové skupiny, zjištění, zda pacient postoupil iktální nebo interiktální formu vyšetření, a na to, jestli výstupem vyšetření byl nález epileptického ložiska.

Abstract:

Annotation The thesis “Brain perfusion focusing on the detection of epileptic centers” deals with the examination of brain perfusion which is performed at the nuclear medicine department. The work is divided into two parts. The theoretical part is dedicated to anatomy, physiology and pathology with the focus on epilepsy and nuclear medicine. The anatomic section describes the brain structure and its vascular supply. The chapter about nuclear medicine focuses on radionuclides and radiopharmaceuticals, the types of radiation, manufacturing of radiopharmaceuticals, SPECT machine and the examination of brain perfusion to detect the centre of epilepsy. The practical part focuses on the data gathering from University Hospital with regard to the examination of brain perfusion on the nuclear medicine department. The research concerned itself with the frequency of the examination, finding the most common age group, finding whether the patient underwent ictal or interictal type of examination and whether its output was the finding of the epilepsy centre.
