Abstract:
This thesis describes the history of Jewish immigration mostly from Eastern Europe to the United States of America and enlightens the birth of the Jewish ghetto in the New York Lower East Side. It is focused on the social life of the Jewish immigrants in the ghetto and their hard life and working conditions. Tato práce popisuje historii přistěhovalectví židovského obyvatelstva převážně z východní Evropy do USA a objasňuje vznik židovského ghetta v newyorské Lower East Side. Práce se zaměřuje na sociální život židovských imigrantů v ghettu a těžké životní a pracovní podmínky, v nichž se tito přistěhovalci nacházeli.
