Drop-out university students in the context of family tradition

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá tématem neúspěšného vysokoškolského studia s přihlédnutím k rodinnému zázemí těchto studentů. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části, teoretickou a empirickou. Teoretická část poskytuje základní informace o terciárním vzdělávání v České republice s přihlédnutím na data týkající se neúspěšných studentů a přihlíží k jeho postavení v mezinárodním srovnání. Dále informuje o teoretických přístupech k řešení otázky předčasných odchodů ze vzdělávání, popisuje charakteristiky neúspěšných studentů, v neposlední řadě se zabývá tématem vzdělanostní reprodukce v rodině. Empirická část je zaměřena na popis výsledků kvalitativního šetření, jehož hlavní výzkumnou metodou byly polostrukturované rozhovory. Je zde popsána metodologie výzkumného šetření a prezentovány hlavní výzkumná zjištění. Cílem empirické části bylo odpovědět na otázku, co stojí za neúspěšnou reprodukcí vzdělanosti u jedinců, jejichž rodiče mají vysokoškolské vzdělání a jak sami jedinci tento fakt vnímají.

Abstract:

The master thesis deals with the topic of unsuccessful university studies in the context of students' family background. The work is divided into two parts: theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part provides basic information about tertiary education in the Czech Republic with regard to the data relating to unsuccessful students, describes the position of tertiary education in international comparisons, as well as provides information about theoretical approaches to the issue of drop-outs, describes the characteristics of drop-outs, focuses on the topic of education reproduction in the family. Empirical part is focused on describing the results of a qualitative survey whose main research method was semi-structured interviews. There is described the methodology of the research and presented main research findings. The aim of the empirical part was to answer the question what reasons led to the unsuccessful reproduction of education of individuals whose parents have a university education and how individuals themselves perceive this fact.
