History of the Border Village Zdobnice: The Transformation of the Village in the Context of the Replacement of the Population after 1945

Abstract:

České pohraniční obce, které byly po několik staletí osídleny převážně německojazyčným obyvatelstvem, prošly po druhé světové válce zásadní proměnou, jelikož z nich byla vysídlena většina Němců a následně byly více či méně úspěšně (znovu)osídleny etnickými Čechy a Slováky. V této souvislosti se předkládaná diplomová práce zabývá historickým vývojem jedné konkrétní pohraniční obce, a to obce Zdobnice. Cílem práce je - prostřednictvím dílčích podotázek - přinést odpověď na to, jakým vývojem - ať už politickým, společenským či demografickým - si obec od svého založení na počátku novověku prošla, přičemž se práce věnuje zejména vývoji obce ve 20. století, a to v kontextu jejího německého a následně českého osídlení po roce 1945.

Abstract:

The villages of the Bohemian borderlands that were settled mainly of the German speaking population for several centuries passed after the Second World War the major transformation because they were displaced from the majority of the Germans and were (re)settled more or less successfully by the ethnic Czechs and Slovaks. In this context the presented dissertation deals with the historical development of the one particular border village called Zdobnice. The aim is - through the sub-questions - to bring an answer on what development - whether political, social or demographic - the village has passed since its foundation at the beginning of the early modern period. The dissertation focuses on the development of the village in the 20th century, specifically in the context of its German and then Czech settlement after 1945.
