Appreciative Suffixes in the Language of Facebook

Abstract:

This diploma thesis consists of two main parts: theoretical and practical one. The theoretical part deals with the problems of word-formation process first at the general level and, consequently, with focus on suffixation and appreciative suffixes. The end of the theoretical part deals with the concise characteristics of language used on Facebook. Practical part focuses on the corpus analysis that includes expressions formed by appreciative suffixes which were extracted from the authentic texts publish on Facebook. These expressions are analysed from the point of view of their formation process as well as their meaning and use.

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se skládá ze dvou hlavních částí: části teoretické a části praktické. Teoretická část se zabývá především problematikou slovotvorby, nejprve v obecné rovině, následně se zaměřením na sufixaci a hodnotící sufixy. Závěr teoretické části je věnován stručné charakteritice jazyka užívaného na Facebooku. Praktická část je zaměřena na analýzu korpusu, který zahrnuje výrazy tvořené hodnotícími suxify, jež byly excerpovány z autentických textů publikovaných na Facebooku. Výrazy jsou analyzovány jak z hlediska jejich tvorby, tak z hlediska jejich významu a způsobu užití.
