Meaning of dance in the Aegean Bronze Age in the context of the Eastern Mediterranean and Europe

Abstract:

Tato magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá významem tance v Egejdě doby bronzové. Práce zkoumá, za jakým účelem zde byl tanec praktikován, ikonograficky zaznamenávám a šířen dál. Základním zdrojem jsou archeologické nálezy, ikonografie fresek a pečetidel a drobné plastiky. Součástí práce je i chronologický přehled dostupných ikonografických zdrojů. Vzhledem k tomu, že tanec se nedochoval jako artefakt, je část práce věnována kulturní antropologii, která poskytuje cenné paralely k tanci v minulosti obecně. Cílem práce je zjistit jakou roli měl tanec v Egejdě doby bronzové a jakým způsobem souvisel tanec se změnami ve společnosti. Význam tance v Egejdě je následně srovnáno s významem tance v Egyptě, Blízkém východě a ve střední až severní Evropě.

Abstract:

This master diploma thesis deals with the mening of dance in the Aegean Bronze Age. The thesis examins, in chat purpose the dance was practiced there, in chat way it was depicted and propagated. The main sources were archaeological findings, iconography of frescoes and seals and 3D-figurines. Part of the thesis is a chronological overview of available iconographic material. Due to the fact that dance was not preserved as an artefact, a part of thesis is devoted to cultural anthropology, which provides valuable parallels to dances in the past in general. The aim of the work is to find out what role dance had in the Bronze Age of the Aegean and how the dance with the changes in society was related. The importance of dance in the Aegean is then compared to the importance of dance in Egypt, the Middle East and in Central and Northern Europe.
