The Influence of Experiential Educational Play on Curiosity and Social Anxiety

Abstract:

Edularp (education live action role playing) je specifický druh edukativní hry, která využívá improvizační hraní rolí a pracuje se zážitkem účastníka. Tato práce se zaměřuje na vliv konkrétního edularpu "Střepiny světa" na zvídavost vůči sobě a sociální úzkostnost. Edularpy jsou poměrně málo prozkoumanou oblastí, která doposud nebyla zkoumána ve vztahu ke zmíněným fenoménům. Práce tudíž přispívá novými poznatky ohledně vlivu edularpů na jejich účastníky. Teoretická část práce se zabývá popisem zvídavosti vůči sobě, sociální úzkostností, edularpem a obdobím adolescence. Pomocí kvantitativních (česká verze škály zvídavosti vůči sobě SCAI-CZ a Škála klasické sociálně-situační anxiety a trémy KSAT) a kvalitativních metod (interview) autorka analyzuje vliv hry na zvídavost vůči sobě a míru sociální úzkosti u studentů gymnázií v Ostravě. Z výsledků kvantitativní analýzy vyplývá, že edularp má potenciál snižovat sociální anxietu a trému a zvídavost vůči sobě u skupiny dívek. U chlapců nebyly nalezen žádný významný vliv dané hry na zvídavost vůči sobě ani sociální úzkostnost. Analýza výsledků empirické části odhalila několik oblastí, které edularp může ovlivňovat. Jsou to konkrétně oblasti sebepoznávání, trémy a rovněž edularp ovlivňuje získávání informací o spoluhráčích a s tím spojenou možnou změnu v kolektivu.

Abstract:

Edularp (education live action role playing) is a specific type of educational game that uses improvisational role playing and works with the participant's experience. This work focuses on the influence of a specific edularp "Shards of the World" on self-curiosity and social anxiety. Edularp is not much explored area that has not been studied in relation to these phenomena yet. So the work contributes new knowledge about the influence of edularps on their participants. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the description of self-curiosity, social anxiety, edularp and the period of adolescence. Using quantitative (Czech version of the Self-Curiosity Attitude-Interest Scale SCAI-CZ and the Classical Social-Situational Anxiety and Stage-Fright Scale KSAT) and qualitative methods (interview), the author analyses the influence of a game on self-curiosity and social anxiety in grammar school students in Ostrava. The results of the quantitative analysis show that edularp has the potential to reduce social anxiety and fear and curiosity in a group of girls. No significant effects of the game on curiosity or social anxiety were found among boys. Analysis of the results of the empirical part revealed several areas that can be influenced by edularp. Those are especially the areas of self-knowledge, stage-fright and also edularp which influence the acquisition of information about team-mates and the possible change in a team.
