Occupation Therapy for Schizophrenic Intervence

Abstract:

Ergoterapie je podstatnou složkou rehabilitace pro klienty s duševním onemocněním, jejímž cílem je zaměřit se na klientovu samostatnost a utvářet tak jeho pozitivní pohled na život. V rámci ergoterapeutické intervence dochází k podpoře klientovo společenského, pracovního a osobního růstu, ale také k poskytnutí důležitých informací o duševním onemocnění, se kterým se klient potýká. Ergoterapeutických metod a činností uplatňujících se na poli psychiatrie existuje celá řada, tato práce se však soustředí na onemocnění jménem schizofrenie. Teoretická část pojednává o definici schizofrenie jako takové, o jejím původu, příčinách a vlivech vzniku. Nechybí popis jednotlivých forem schizofrenních poruch, průběhu onemocnění, příznaků i diagnostiky. Součástí teoretické části práce je úvod současných léčebných metod. Ve speciální části je popsána jak ergoterapie obecně, tak ergoterapie uplatňující se u duševně nemocných jedinců. Popsány jsou také vyšetřovací metody, které je možné provést u klientů se schizofrenií v ergoterapeutické praxi. Hlavní část práce je věnována konkrétnímu klientovi s nediferencovanou schizofrenií, obsahuje kasuistiku, krátkodobý a dlouhodobý plán, ergoterapeutické vyšetřovací metody v oboru psychiatrie a realizaci ergoterapeutického procesu.

Abstract:

Occupational therapy is an essential component of rehabilitation for clients with mental illness, the objective of which is to focus on a client's independence, thus forming their positive view of life. As part of an occupational-therapy intervention, the client's social, occupational and personal growth is fostered and the client is also given an insight into their mental illness. There are a great number of occupational-therapy methods and activities used in the field of psychiatry; however, this thesis concentrates on the illness called schizophrenia. The theoretical part focuses on the definition of schizophrenia as such, on its origin, causes and factors influencing its development. Further, it focuses on individual forms of schizophrenic disorders, on the course of the illness, on symptoms as well as diagnostics. The theoretical part of the work lists current methods of treatment. The special part gives a description both of occupational therapy in general and occupational therapy applied to mentally ill individuals. Also, there is a description of investigation methods that can be employed with schizophrenic clients in occupational-therapy practice. The main part of the thesis deals with a particular client suffering from undifferentiated schizophrenia and focuses on the client's case history, on their short-term and long-term occupational-therapy plan including investigation methods in the field of psychiatry, and on the implementation of the occupational-therapy process.
