Possible links among spirituality, faith and perceivable meaning of life

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o fenoménech spiritualita, naděje a životní smysluplnost. V teoretické části bylo naším cílem seznámit čtenáře s problematikou spirituality, naděje a smyslu života. Ve výzkumné části bylo cílem prozkoumat možné souvislosti mezi těmito jevy, k čemuž byly využity dotazníky ESK - Existenciální škála, ESI-R - Expressions of Spirituality Inventory Revised a ADHS - Adult Dispositional Hope Scale. Zjišťovali jsme také možný vztah mezi mírou naděje a spokojeností ve vztahu a možný vztah mezi mírou existenciální naplněnosti a spokojeností ve vztahu. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 104 respondentů ve věku 18 až 87 let. Pro zpracování dat jsme zvolili kvantitativní analýzu. Ze stanovených osmi hypotéz, které vycházely z výzkumných cílů, byly tři hypotézy zamítnuty a pět bylo přijato. Výzkumem byl prokázán statisticky významný vztah mezi životní smysluplností a nadějí, mezi některými složkami spirituality a nadějí, mezi faktorem vyššího řádu životní smysluplnosti a některých složek spirituality a mezi mírou průměrných skórů věřících a nevěřících respondentů v některých dimenzích spirituality. Statisticky významný negativní vztah se neprokázal u škály Religiozity (ESI-R) a Svobody (ESK) a rovněž nebyl nalezen vztah mezi spokojeností ve vztahu a mírou naděje ani mezi spokojeností ve vztahu a životní smysluplností.

Abstract:

This thesis is focused on phenomenon of spirituality, hope and meaning of life. The aim of theoretical part is to introduce the matter of spirituality, hope and meaning of life. The empirical part points at study of connections among these phenomena based on questionnaire ESK -Existential Scale, ESI-R - Expressions of Spirituality Inventory Revised and ADHS - Adult Dispositional Hope Scale. Another focus of this study are potential connections between extent of meaning in life and relationship satisfaction and extent of hope and relationship satisfaction. There were 104 respondents involved, aged from 18-87 years. Data processing is based on quantitative analysis. There were eight hypotheses set, three of them were rejected and five hypotheses were approved. The study demonstrates statistically significant connection between meaning of life and hope, some dimensions of spirituality and hope, factor of higher order of meaning of life and some dimensions of spirituality and connection between scale average scores of the ESI-R of believers and atheists. Statistically significant negative connection was not proved at Religiosity scale (ESI-R) and Freedom scale (ESK). Just as the connections between relationship satisfaction and extent of hope and connection between relationship satisfaction and the meaning of life were not proved.
