Zionism as background of activities of Jüdischer Buch- und Kunstverlag

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is concerned with the activities of the former Jewish publishing house "Jüdischer Buch- und Kunstverlag" and searches how the activities of this Brno publishing house were influenced by the Zionist movement that has been in the background of its long-standing existence. The thesis comprehensively maps the history of the publishing house, deals with its relations with competing Jewish publishers and puts its activities into the overall context of the Jewish press in the Czech lands.

Abstract:

Tato magisterská práce se věnuje činnosti někdejšího židovského nakladatelství „Jüdischer Buch- und Kunstverlag“ a zkoumá, jak byla činnost tohoto brněnského nakladatelství ovlivněna sionistickým hnutím, které stálo v pozadí celé jeho dlouholeté existence. Práce komplexně mapuje historii nakladatelství, zabývá se jeho vztahy s konkurenčními židovskými nakladatelstvími a zasazuje jeho činnost do celkového kontextu židovského tisku v českých zemích.
