Changes in biochemical and immunological parameters related to medical condition of endurance athletes during their exercise

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the impact of demanding ultramarathon races on the runner's organism. The assumption was that the determination of selected hematological, immunological and biochemical evidence of ongoing inflammatory processes, damage to erythrocytes, hepatocytes and muscle tissue. The results confirm ongoing inflammatory processes, muscle cell damage and ongoing anaerobic metabolism due to insufficient muscle oxygenation. The damage to erythrocytes has not been confirmed nor disproved because of the inconsistency of the results. The decrease in the catalytic ALT concentration has rebutted the hypothesis of hepatocyte damage. The statistically insignificant change in serum IgA did not confirm the hypothesis of the occurrence of upper respiratory tract inflammation. However, to investigate the hypothesis, it would be necessary to extend research into the determination of IgA concentration in salivary secretion. Many of the parameters in multi-stage ultramarathon participants point to the ability of the body of trained runners to adapt to several consecutive running marathon runs. Because of the low number of volunteers, it would be advisable to continue with determining of these parameters by ultramarathon participants. At the same time, it would be advisable to extend the set of parameters for an even better characteristic of runners' condition.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá vlivem náročných ultramaratonských závodů na organismus běžců. Předpokladem bylo, že stanovení vybraných hematologických, imunologických a biochemických parametrů poukáže na probíhající zánětlivé procesy, poškození erytrocytů, hepatocytů a svalové tkáně. Výsledky potvrzují probíhající zánětlivé procesy, poškození svalových buněk a probíhající anaerobní metabolismus způsoben nedostatečným okysličením svalů. Poškození erytrocytů nebylo potvrzeno ani vyvráceno z důvodu rozporuplnosti výsledků. Snížení katalytické koncentrace ALT vyvrátilo hypotézu o poškození hepatocytů. Statisticky nevýznamná změna u sérového IgA nepotvrdila hypotézu o vznikajících zánětech horních cest dýchacích. Pro vyvrácení hypotézy by však bylo třeba rozšířit výzkum o stanovení koncentrace IgA v slinném sekretu. Mnohé z parametrů u účastníků etapového ultramaratonu poukazují na schopnost adaptace organismu trénovaných běžců na několik dní za sebou probíhající běžeckou zátěž v objemu maratonu. Vzhledem k nízkému počtu dobrovolníků by bylo vhodné v stanovování těchto parametrů u účastníků ultramaratonů pokračovat. Zároveň by bylo vhodné rozšířit množství stanovených parametrů pro ještě lepší charakteristiku stavu běžců.
