Growth and structure of stands with a dominance of mountain ash (Sorbus aucuparia L.) in the Carpathian and Hercynian regions of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Cílem práce je analyzovat rozdíly ve struktuře a růstu mladých porostů s převahou jeřábu ptačího (Sorbus aucuparia L.) ve dvou oblastech ČR (hercynská a karpatská). V obou případech se jedná o porosty vzniklé přirozenou obnovou po disturbancích a rozpadu smrkového porostu.Šetření bylo provedeno v porostech 1. věkové třídy a sestávalo z inventarizace a detailního šetření na vybraných vzornících. Jeřáb měl na obou lokalitách 80% zastoupení, v mezerách rostly další dřeviny, jako jsou buk, smrk, jedle, bříza, vrba a borovice. Lokality mají obdobnou dřevinnou skladbu, rozdílná je početnost jedinců. Na Šumavě byl celkový počet všech dřevin 32667 ks/ha, v Beskydech jen 22200 ks/ha. Lokality mají také odlišné klima; v Beskydech je tepleji a je zde více srážek.Horní výška porostu byla v roce 2018 na lokalitě Beskydy 390 cm a na lokalitě Šumava 305 cm. Hodnota střední tloušťky byla v Beskydech 1,87 cm, kdežto na Šumavě 1,41 cm. Výškový přírůst byl na obou lokalitách shodný (Beskydy 36,27 cm, Šumava 38,44 cm), střední hodnota tloušťkového přírůstu se ale lišila (Beskydy 0,18 cm, Šumavě 0,46 cm). Provedený výchovný zásah neměl vliv na výškový ani tloušťkový přírůst. Stejné šetření provedené na starších porostech ukázalo, že jedinci na Šumavě vykazují vyšší výškový i tloušťkový přírůst (výškový přírůst: Beskydy 35,15 cm, Šumava 62,45 cm; tloušťkový: Beskydy 0,15 cm, Šumava 0,52 cm) a hovoříme zde o vlivu lokality, v případě tloušťkového přírůstu však pouze v případě provedeného zásahu na Šumavě.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the differences in structure and growth of young forest stands with the dominance of mountain ash (Sorbus aucuparia L.) in two regions of the Czech Republic (Hercynian and Carpathian). In both cases, the stands were formed by natural regeneration after disturbances and decay of a spruce stand.The survey was carried out in the stands of the 1st age class and consisted of an inventory and a detailed survey on selected sample trees. The mountain ash had 80% representation in both locations, with other tree species such as beech, spruce, fir, birch, willow and pine growing in the gaps. Both locations have a similar tree species composition, though the number of individuals is different. In Šumava the total number of all tree species was 32,667 pcs/ha, in Beskydy only 22,200 pcs/ha. The sites also have a different climate; Beskydy have a warmer climate and higher precipitation.In 2018 the top height of the stand was 390 cm at the Beskydy site and 305 cm at the Šumava site. Mean diameter in Beskydy was 1.87 cm, while in Šumava it was 1.41 cm. The height increment was the same on both locations (Beskydy 36.27 cm, Šumava 38.44 cm), but the mean value of diameter increment varied (Beskydy 0.18 cm, Šumava 0.46 cm). The intervention did not affect the height nor diameter increment.The same survey carried out in older stands showed that individuals in Šumava have higher height and diameter increment (height increment: Beskydy 35.15 cm, Šumava 62.45 cm; diameter increment: Beskydy 0.15 cm, Šumava 0.52 cm), we talk here about the influence of the location, in case of diameter increment, however, only in the case of intervention in Šumava.
