The influence of an adaptation course on cohesion of the school class

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce bylo zjistit, zdali adaptační kurz ovlivňuje skupinovou kohezi školní třídy také s časovým odstupem. Vycházeli jsme ze studií, které potvrdily vyšší percepci skupinové koheze mezi studenty, bezprostředně poté, co kurz absolvovali. Pomocí kvaziexperimentálního designu jsme odhalili statisticky významný rozdíl v míře pociťované skupinové koheze v závislosti na absolvování adaptačního kurzu také šest měsíců po ukončení kurzu. Studenti, kteří kurzem prošli, percipovali vyšší skupinovou kohezi než studenti, kteří se kurzu nezúčastnili. Míra skupinové koheze se statisticky významně lišila také podle typu jednotlivých škol. Studenti gymnázií a střední školy pedagogické pociťovali vůči své třídě vyšší skupinovou kohezi než studenti ostatních, převážně technicky zaměřených škol. Byla také nalezena pozitivní velmi těsná korelace mezi skupinovou kohezí a atraktivitou skupiny.

Abstract:

The goal of this bachelor’s thesis was to find out whether the adaptation course affects the group cohesion of the school class also after some time has passed. We worked under the assumption of other studies that confirmed higher perception of group cohesion among students immediately after attending the course. Using quasi-experimental design, we revealed a statistically significant difference in rate of perceived group cohesion depending on the completion of the adaptation course also six months after the end of the course. Students who took the course perceived higher cohesion than students who did not attend the course. The degree of the perceived group cohesion had significant statistical difference depending on the type of the schools too. Student of grammar schools and pedagogical high schools felt a higher group cohesion towards their class than students of other, mostly technically oriented school. A positive very close correlation was found between group cohesion and attraction to group.
