Analysis of skills and knowledge of the top and the middle management and subsequent calculation of costs needed to aquire them

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na analýzu základních dovedností a znalostí středního a vrcholového managementu napříč vybranými podniky. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí, na teoretickou a praktickou část. Teoretická část obsahuje vymezení základních pojmů nutných k pochopení pro řádné provedení analýzy znalostí a dovedností. V dalších bodech práce obsahuje vymezení jednotlivých manažerských kompetencí a metody jejich rozvoje. Vzhledem k tomu, že nedílnou součástí fungování manažera, je uplatňování konkrétního manažerského stylu, je tato oblast součástí teoretické části diplomové práce. V závěru teoretické části jsou vymezeny nejčastější chyby a omyly, kterých se zaměstnanci v manažerské funkci dopouštějí. V praktické části byly aplikovány poznatky z literární rešerše a bylo tak možné vymezit nejpodstatnější manažerské kompetence a projevy chování, které mají přímý vliv na vykonávání manažerské role. Cílem praktické části byla analýza znalostí a dovedností ze strany vybraných manažerů z praxe. Nejdříve bylo nutné rozpracovat specifikace testovaného vzorku. Tedy přiblížení odvětví a oblastí, ve kterých dotazovaní manažeři působí. Na základě poznatků z teoretické části byly specifikovány klíčové kompetence či projevy chování, požadované při výkonu manažerské funkce. Primárním bodem praktické části je analýza kompetencí vybraných manažerů na základě propojení teoretických poznatků a poznatků z praxe. Poznatky z praxe byly získány prostřednictvím kvantitativního dotazníkového šetření a byly použity jako vstupní proměnné pro sestavení následné kalkulace nákladů. Na základě tohoto porovnání bylo možné určit jakou váhu jednotlivým kompetencím přikládá teorie a jaká je následná realita hodnocená zkušeností v konkrétním oboru. Závěrem je součástí praktické části kalkulace nákladů potřebných pro získání základních dovedností a znalostí, jejímž účelem je doporučení pro optimální výkonnost středního a vrcholového managementu.

Abstract:

Master´s thesis focus on the analysis of skills and knowledge of the top and the middle management from different companies. The master´s thesis consist of two parts and is divided on theoretical and practical part. Theoretical part include definitions of the main concepts which are important to understand for the analysis of the skills and knowledge. Others parts of the thesis include definitions of the concrete management competencies and methods of their development. Because an integral part of manager functioning is an application of concrete managerial style, is this topic another point of theoretical part of diploma thesis. In the end of theoretical part are specified the most common mistakes and errors made by employees in the managerial role. In the practical part, the knowledge from the literature search were applied and it was possible to define the most important managerial competencies and manifestations of behaviour that have a direct impact on the performance in the managerial role. Approach of the practical part of diploma thesis was the analysis of the competencies and skills from the point of view sellected managers from practice. First, the individual managers were defined according to the type of company in which they work, the position they hold in these companies. Based on the knowledge from the theoretical part, the competencies of individual managers were specified as the most recommended for the managerial role. The primary point of the practical part is the analysis of the competencies of selected managers based on the connection of theoretical and practical knowledge. The knowledge from the practice were obtained thanks to the quantitative questionnare and were used as inpust for the possibility of the final calculations of costs of managerial knowledge and skills. Based on the comparison was possible to analyze how important are competencies from theoretical view and how they see an reality evaluted from the practical experience. Part of the practical part is the calculation of costs needed to acquire basic skills and knowledge, the purpose of which is to make recommendations for the optimal performance of middle and top management.
