Micro-mechanical Properties of Filled Polypropylene in Dependence on Flow Length

Abstract:

Hlavním tématem této práce je výzkum mikro-mechanických vlastností vstřikovaného PP plněného různými koncentracemi mastku a skleněných vláken v závislosti na vzdálenosti od vtoku. V technické praxi se bere v potaz především uniformní tvrdost po celé délce výrobku, která však ne vždy odpovídá realitě. Tvrdost vstřikovaných dílů ovlivňuje celá řada faktorů, mezi něž patří právě vzdálenost od místa vtoku, ale také teplota formy a taveniny, tlak, krystalická struktura, míra chlazení a další. Tato studie si bere za úkol nejen kvantifikovat tvrdost po celé délce vzorku, ale také prostudovat již zmíněné jevy, které na ni mají vliv. V rámci disertační práce, byla vytvořena současná literární rešerše této problematiky zahrnující aktuální články týkající se všech jevů, které by mohly ovlivňovat tvrdost neplněného a plněného PP. Dále byla vypracována teoretická část obsahující výňatky z článků doplňující danou problematiku. V první řadě bylo popsáno vstřikování, což je podstatná část celého procesu přípravy testovacích vzorků. Následovala kapitola reologie, v níž se popisuje tok polymeru ve formě při utváření testovacích vzorků, a která má velký vliv na finální vlastnosti výrobku. Poté byly popsány plněné materiály a samotná plniva vybraná pro tuto studii - mastek a skleněná vlákna. Jako poslední část teorie byla popsána krystalizace polymerů a krystalizace plněných materiálů. Poslední část této práce se zaměřuje na cíle disertační práce, metodologii a praktickou část obsahující výsledky měření. Kapitola metodologie obsahuje metody testování polymerů, jež budou využity při tomto výzkumu. Před vstřikováním plněného PP byly vyrobeny testovací vzorky z neplněného PP, které budou později využity k porovnání změn v tvrdostí v závislosti na vzdálenosti od vtoku. Praktická část obsahuje procesní podmínky využité při vstřikování těchto vzorků a grafy zobrazující naměřené hodnoty.

Abstract:

The main topic of this work is research into the micro-mechanical properties of injected PP filled with different concentrations of talc and glass fibers depending on the distance from the gate. In technical practice, uniform hardness along the entire length of the product is taken into account, but this does not always correspond to reality. The hardness of injected parts is influenced by a number of factors, including the distance from the point of entry, but also the temperature of the mold and melt, pressure, crystalline structure, cooling rate and others. This study undertakes not only to quantify the hardness along the entire length of the sample, but also to study the already mentioned phenomena that influence it. As part of the dissertation, a current literature review of this issue was created, including current articles regarding all phenomena that could affect the hardness of pure and filled PP. Furthermore, a theoretical part containing excerpts from articles supplementing the given issue was developed. First of all, injection molding was described, which is an essential part of the entire process of preparing test samples. This was followed by a chapter on rheology, in which the flow of the polymer in the mold during the formation of the test samples is described, and which has a great influence on the final properties of the product. Then the filled materials and the fillers themselves chosen for this study - talc and glass fibers - were described. As the last part of the theory, crystallization of polymers and crystallization of filled materials was described. The last part of this work focuses on the objectives of the dissertation, the methodology and the practical part containing the results of the work so far. The methodology chapter contains the polymer testing methods that will be used in this research. Before the injection of the filled PP, test samples were made of pure PP, which will later be used to compare changes in hardness depending on the distance from the inlet. The practical part contains the process conditions used in the injection of these samples and graphs showing the measured values.
