Czech tourist in the context of pandemic

Abstract:

Tato práce se zakládá na předpokladu, že způsob trávení volného času zrcadlí hodnoty společnosti a dovolená jakožto prostředek identifikace s určitou sociální vrstvou je též jedním z faktorů formujících společenskou strukturu. S ohledem na to se práce zaměřuje na přímořský turismus jakožto fenomén, který se v rámci české společnosti prudce rozvinul od počátku 90. let po otevření hranic. Konkrétně se část výzkumu soustřeďuje na italské přímořské letovisko Bibione, jakožto příklad zahraniční lokality, na které Češi zdomácněli. Bibione, které český turista masově navštěvuje téměř 30 let, reprezentuje jednu z prvních a typických porevolučních přímořských destinací českého turismu. Vzhledem k tomu, že primárním cílem přímořského turismu je mořská pláž, bude výzkum do velké míry též zaměřen na její kvalitativní a prostorové aspekty ve smyslu prožívání prostoru a utváření vztahu k němu. Cílem práce je ze sociokulturní perspektivy identifikovat a analyzovat (a) motivy vedoucí k výběru určitého způsobu trávení dovolené, (b) souvislosti dané volby s hodnotami a způsobem života české společnosti a (c) vlivy pobytu v cizím prostředí na symbolický kapitál, normy a postoje aktérů. Práce proto prozkoumá, jaké představy, praktiky a performance oddělují/spojují život doma a na dovolené, a přehodnotí zavedenou představu turismu jako vykročení z každodennosti, sociálních struktur a kulturních vzorců vlastní společnosti. V neposlední řadě práce znovu prošetří vztah turismu a hodnot, především pojetí spokojenosti, pohody a štěstí.

Abstract:

This work is based on the assumption that the way of spending leisure reflects the values of society and that the holidays as a means of identification with a certain social class is also one of the factors shaping the social structure. With this in mind, the work focuses on coastal tourism as a phenomenon that has developed rapidly in Czech society since the early 1990s after the opening of the borders. Specifically, part of the research focuses on the Italian seaside resort of Bibione, as an example of a foreign location that has been visited by Czech tourists en masse for almost 30 years. Bibione represents one of the first and typical Czech post-revolutionary seaside. Given that the primary goal of coastal tourism is a sea beach, research will also largely focus on its qualitative and spatial aspects in terms of experiencing space and forming a relationship with it. The aim of the thesis is to identify and analyze from a socio-cultural perspective (a) motives leading to the choice of a particular way of spending holidays, (b) the context of the choice in the regards of values and way of life of Czech society and (c) the effects of living in a foreign environment on symbolic capital, norms and actors attitudes. The work therefore examines what ideas, practices and performances separate / splice life at home and on vacation, and re-evaluates the established idea of tourism as a step out of the everyday life, social structures and cultural patterns of one's own society. Last but not least, the work will re-examine the relationship between tourism and values, especially the concept of satisfaction, well-being and happiness.
