Intergenerational relations from the perspective of contemporary Czech artists

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce s názvem „Mezigenerační vztahy z pohledu současných českých umělců“ má za cíl zmapovat a představit výtvarnou tvorbu vybraných českých umělců, kteří zpracovávají téma rodiny a mezigeneračních vztahů. V první části je představeno téma rodiny a její postavení ze sociologického hlediska. Jsou zmíněny zejména změny, které zejména v posledních desetiletích zásadním způsobem proměnily českou rodinu – od obecného vymezení toho, co rodina je, přechází k rodině a změnám, které ji v současné době značně znejišťují. Následně představuje rodinu jako téma, které má i v historii umění své místo. Ve stěžejní kapitole jsou zmapovány ohlasy tématu rodiny v českých výstavních projektech posledních deseti let. Na základě teoretických informací přechází ke konkrétním českým umělcům, kteří zpracovávají téma mezigeneračního vztahu. Jsou zde představeny různé přístupy uměleckého ztvárnění vlastních vztahů, které probíhají mezi umělcem a rodičem či prarodičem.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis entitled “Intergenerational relations from the perspective of contemporary Czech artists” aims to map and visualize the art work of the Czech artists who deal the topic of family and intergenerational relationships. The first part is the topic of a family and its position from a sociological perspective. Notably those changes are mentioned, which fundamentally transformed the Czech family in recent decades – from the general definition of what a family is, to the changes, which unsettle the current family. Subsequently, the family as a subject in the history of art is delineated. In a latter parts, the crucial chapter maps the theme of family in the Czech exhibition projects over the last decade in particular artists. With this regard, different approaches of artistic depiction of own relationships that take place between the artist and the parents or grandparents are presented.
