Tato bakalářská práce představuje protagonisty vybraných děl autora Hermanna Melvillea a sleduje jejich vývoj v dílech reprezentujících počátek a závěr Melvilleovy literární kariéry. Hlavní hrdinové jeho raných děl se vyznačují schopností přežít různé život ohrožující události, aniž by propadli panice nebo depresím a snaží se za všech okolností jednat velmi racionálně. This bachelor thesis introduces protagonists of Herman Melville?s selected works and it observes their development in the works representing the beginning and the end of his literary career. The protagonists of his early works are able to survive various life threatening dangers. They do not panic or despair and act very rationally under all circumstances.
