Magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem neustále se opakujícím v literární tvorbě Elizabeth Gaskellové, a sice nesouladem mezi jejími hrdinkami a tradičními viktoriánskými morálními hodnotami a normami. This Master’s diploma thesis deals with a phenomenon constantly recurring in Elizabeth Gaskell’s literary performance–the unconformity between her heroines and traditional Victorian moral values and norms.
