Chemical composition of tourmaline from elbaite pegmatite Dolní Rožínka

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce studuje chemické složení turmalínů z granitického pegmatitu elbaitového subtypu v Dolní Rožínce, a podává upřesněný popis jeho zonálnosti, texturních jednotek a minerálních asociací. Byl studován chemismus šesti texturních typů turmalínu (turmalín po biotitu, grafické srůsty turmalín + křemen, zonální turmalín z dutiny, jehlicovitý turmalín narůstající na krystaly v dutinách, metasomatický turmalín). Na základě dat z elektronové mikrosondy je možné klasifikovat turmalín po biotitu jako mírně Al-deficitní Mg-bohatý skoryl. Naproti tomu turmalín tvořící srůsty s křemenem je skoryl s mírně vyšším obsahem Mg a vakancí v pozici X. Jádra turmalínu v dutinách jsou tvořena Li-bohatým skorylem, zatímco jeho okraje Mn-bohatým elbaitem. Zonální krystaly turmalínu v dutinách jsou občas obrůstány jehlicovitým turmalínem s heterogenním složením odpovídající elbaitu se zvýšeným množstvím Ca a F. Metasomatický turmalín s velmi heterogenním složením obohacený o F, Ca, Mn a Mg odpovídá skorylu, fluor-skorylu, elbaitu a fluor-elbaitu. Vývoj turmalínu v Li-pegmatitu z Dolní Rožínky je v mnoha aspektech texturně i chemicky podobný vývoji turmalínu z pegmatitu elbaitového subtypu z Pikárce (vyšší obsahy Mn). Naproti tomu elbaitový pegmatit v Řečici je texturně i chemicky (především obsahy F, Ca) poměrně výrazně odlišný.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis investigated chemical composition of tourmalines in the elbaite-subtype granitic pegmatite at Dolní Rožínka, and provides improved description of its internal structure, textural units and mineral assemblages. Chemistry of six textural types of tourmalines was studied (tourmaline after biotite, tourmaline + quartz intergrowths, zoned tourmaline from pocket, acicular tourmaline overgrowths on the top of the zoned crystal from pocket, and metasomatic tourmaline). Based on electron microprobe data, the tourmaline after biotite is slightly Al-deficient Mg-enriched schorl whereas tourmaline intergrown with quartz is schorl with slightly higher contents of Mg and vacancies at the X-site. Cores of tourmalines from pockets are formed by Li-rich schorl whereas rims by Mn-rich elbaite. The zoned crystals from pockets are sometimes overgrown by acicular tourmaline with heterogeneous composition corresponding to elbaite with elevated amounts of Ca and F. Metasomatic tourmaline has very heterogeneous chemical composition enriched in F, Ca, Mn, and Mg, corresponding to schorl, fluor-schorl, elbaite and fluor-elbaite. Evolution of tourmaline in the Li-pegmatite at Dolní Rožínka is in many aspects (such as tourmaline textures and chemical composition) very similar to the elbaite-subtype pegmatite at Pikárec (higher amount of Mn). On the other hand, the elbaite pegmatite at Řečice is texturally and chemically (especially in contents of F, Ca) rather different.
