Process of grieving in widowed men and women

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá procesem truchlení u ovdovělých mužů a žen. Práce je rozdělena na 2 části, a to teoretickou a výzkumnou, které jsou tomuto tématu věnovány. Teoretická část bakalářské práce se zabývá psychologickými aspekty truchlení, zármutku, podobami truchlení, nekomplikovaným truchlením, anticipovaným truchlením, komplikovaným truchlením a projevy truchlení. Dále jsou do této části zařazeny fáze truchlení, faktory ovlivňující truchlení vztahující se k pozůstalému i k zemřelému, přístupy k truchlení, ovdovění a vdovství, podobnosti a rozdíly mezi vdovci a vdovami, úmrtí manžela/manželky, adaptace na ovdovění, problematika soběstačnosti a autonomie po ztrátě partnera a typy ztrát související s úmrtím partnera. Výzkumná část si klade za cíl prozkoumat průběh procesu truchlení u ovdovělých mužů a žen. Byla realizována prostřednictvím kvalitativního výzkumu formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů vedených s 11 pozůstalými, kteří hovořili o vlastním procesu truchlení. Realizovaným výzkumem bylo zjištěno, že proces i délka truchlení mohou být ovlivněny mnoha faktory, kterými mohou být například vztah se zemřelým, sociální podpora, konání a samotná účast na pohřbu, délka případné nemoci zemřelého a její průběh. Po zpracování analýzy provedených rozhovorů vyplynuly odpovědi na výzkumné otázky a dílčí cíle týkající se procesu truchlení.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the grieving process in the lives of widowed men and women. The work is divided into 2 parts, theoretical and research, dedicated to this topic. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis deals with psychological aspects of grieving, grief, forms of grieving, uncomplicated grieving, anticipated grieving, complicated grieving and expressions of grieving. This section also includes grieving phases, factors affecting grieving relating to the bereaved person and the deceased, approaches to grieving, widowhood, similarities and differences between widows and widowers, death of husband and wife, adaptation to widowhood, issues of self-sufficiency and autonomy following the loss of the partner and types of losses related to the death of the partner. The research part aims to determine the course of the grieving process in the lives of widowed men and women. It was implemented through qualitative research in the form of semi-structured interviews conducted with 11 bereaved people who talked about their own grieving process. The research found that the process and length of grieving can be influenced by many factors such as the relationship with the deceased, social support, the taking and the actual attendance at the funeral, the length of any illness and its progress. After the analysis of the conducted interviews, the answers to the research questions and partial goals concerning the grieving process came out.
