Johannes Brahms - Analysis of Clarinet Quintet in B minor op.115

Abstract:

Celem niniejszej pracy jest analiza interpretacyjna Kwintetu klarnetowego h-moll, op. 115 Johannesa Brahmsa, w celu zwiększenia świadomości wykonawcy oraz podniesienia jakości występu, w czasie wykonywania jednego z najważniejszych dzieł kameralnych w repertuarze klarnetowym epoki romantyzmu. Każdy przykład z partytury jest analizowany pod kątem wyrazu i wymagań technicznych, a także zawiera instrukcje metodyczne dla przyszłych wykonawców. Praca zawiera informację o biografii kompozytora, wpływie innych kompozytorów na styl Johannesa Brahmsa oraz przedstawia historię powstania Kwintetu klarnetowego h-moll, op. 115. Ponadto w pracy znajdują się również recenzje historycznych i współczesnych nagrań, których porównanie może pomóc przyszłym wykonawcom w interpretacji dzieła. Podane przeze mnie przykłady muzyczne mogą stanowić inspirację podczas przyszłego wykonywania utworu.

Abstract:

The purpose of the thesis is to provide an interpretational analyse of the Clarinet Quintet, op. 115 in B minor, written by Johannes Brahms. The aim is to increase the awareness of performer and extend the quality of the performance in one of the most important chamber music composition written for clarinet in the Romantic era. Each example from the score is analysed from the different points of expression and technical demands. In addition to that methodical instructions for future performers are given. The thesis also mentions the composer's biography, the influence of others composers on the style of Johannes Brahms, the history of the Clarinet Quintet, op. 115 in B minor. Moreover the thesis shows several reviews of historical and nowadays recordings which can help future performers to compare them and take the inspiration during the performance.
