Multiple sclerosis from the patient's point of view

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřená na problematiku autoimunitního onemocnění roztroušená skleróza. Ročně je nových případů v České republice diagnostikováno zhruba okolo 700 nových pacientů. Roztroušená skleróza je jedním z neurologických onemocnění, které může vést k trvalé invaliditě. Pacienti prožívají mnoho nepříjemných pocitů, jako je strach, osamělost, úzkost, ale také často propadají depresím. Onemocnění bývá čím dál častěji diagnostikováno mladým lidem v produktivním věku, ale díky nejnovějším technologiím, může být onemocnění časně diagnostikováno. Čím rychleji je léčba zahájená, tím větší šanci má pacient na prožití plnohodnotného života, bez trvalých neurologických deficitů. Bakalářská práce je rozdělená na teoretickou a empirickou část.Teoretická část práce popisuje onemocnění roztroušená skleróza, diagnostiku, klasifikaci onemocnění, klinický obraz, možnosti léčby, fyzioterapii a prožívání pacientů během onemocnění. Dále se zmiňuji o průběhu onemocnění u žen během gravidity. Empirická část je zpracována formou kazuistik u dvou pacientek s roztroušenou sklerózou. Empirická část práce byla rozdělená na tři dílčí cíle: popsat a porovnat subjektivní vnímání pacientů s roztroušenou sklerózou z pohledu somatické stránky, z pohledu psychického vnímání, z pohledu sociálního vnímání. Cílem praktické části bylo přiblížit problematiku roztroušené sklerózy z pohledů pacientů a jejich subjektivního vnímání.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the issue of autoimmune disease multiple sclerosis. Approximately 700 new cases are diagnosed annually in the Czech Republic. Multiple sclerosis is one of the neurological diseases that can lead to permanent disability. Patients experience many unpleasant feelings such as fear, loneliness, anxiety, but also often fall into depression. The disease is increasingly being diagnosed in young people of working age, but thanks to the latest technology, the disease can be diagnosed early. The earlier treatment is started, the better the patient's chances of living a full life without permanent neurological deficits. The bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and empirical parts.The theoretical part of the thesis describes the disease multiple sclerosis, diagnosis, classification of the disease, clinical picture, treatment options, physiotherapy and patient experience during the disease. Furthermore, I mention the course of the disease in women during pregnancy.The empirical part is presented in the form of case studies of two patients with multiple sclerosis. The empirical part of the work was divided into three sub-objectives: to describe and compare the subjective perceptions of multiple sclerosis patients in terms of somatic, psychological and social perceptions. The aim of the practical part was to present the issue of multiple sclerosis from the perspective of patients and their subjective perception.
