Gender differences behind the wheel

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem genderových rozdílů mezi řidiči. Konkrétně je zaměřena na autoškoly v Plzeňském kraji v České republice. Jsou zde popsány základní teorie související s genderem, jako je "doing gender" a "undoing gender". Výzkum byl proveden prostřednictvím strukturovaných rozhovorů s učiteli autoškol a jejich studenty. Výsledky ukazují, že přístup učitelů nelze chápat jednoduše v rámci genderu, ale také jiných kategorizačních atributů jejich žáků. Získaná data nelze aplikovat na širokou veřejnost, přesto poskytují zajímavá zjištění a také lepší pohled na realitu v českých autoškolách.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the topic of gender differences in driving schools in the Pilsen region in Czech Republic. In this regard, the thesis describes basic theories related to gender such as doing and undoing gender. The research was conducted through the structured interviews with driving school teachers and their students. The results show that the approach of teachers cannot be understood simply within the framework of gender, but other categorizational attributes of their pupils. The obtained data cannot be applied to the general public, but they still provide interesting findings and also a better look at the reality in Czech driving schools.
