Polycyclic groups

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá třídou grup nazývaných polycyklické grupy, které vznikají jako násobné rozšíření konečně generovaných komutativních grup a které jsou zajímavé tím, že je v nich řešitelný problém slov. V textu jsou polycyklické grupy dány do souvislosti s polopřímými součiny a jsou popsány množinou generátorů s algoritmem počítajícím operace v grupě. Problém slov je v textu vyřešen algoritmem, který jednoznačně přiřazuje prvkům n-tice celých čísel. Značná část práce se věnuje algoritmům pro popis podgrup, normálních podgrup, kvocientů, jader, kojader a rozšíření polycyklických grup.

Abstract:

This thesis studies the class of groups called polycyclic groups, which arise as iterated extensions of finitely generated commutative groups and which are interesting for the solvability of the word problem. In this text polycyclic groups are related to semi-direct products and are described by sets of generators together with an algorithm, that computes the group operations. In this text the word problem is solved by an algorithm, that uniquely assigns the n-tuples of integers to the elements of the group. Much of the thesis is dedicated to algorithms describing subgroups, normal subgroups, quotients, kernels, cokernels and extensions of the polycyclic groups.
